The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
